Melinda Hohman, Ph.D. Dr. Melinda Hohman is Professor at the School of Social Work, San Diego State University, San Diego, where she has worked since 1995. Dr. Hohman teaches courses in substance abuse treatment, research, and social work practice. She also coordinates the undergraduate social work program. Dr. Hohman’s research interests include substance abuse assessment and treatment services and the overlap of substance abuse treatment and Child Welfare services. She has been a trainer in Motivational Interviewing (MI) since 1999, training community social workers, Child Welfare workers, probation officers, and addiction counselors across Southern California. Currently Dr. Hohman is a Co-PI on a treatment intervention study with multiple DUI offenders that is being conducted at the School's DUI Program. Dr. Hohman also is the Project Director of the Cal-METRO (California Motivational Enhancement Towards Rehabilitative Outcomes) Project that is being conducted through the UCSD Department of Psychiatry/Center for Criminality, Addiction, Research and Training Application (CCARTA). This project involves training over 2000 California Department of Corrections/Division of Juvenile Justice staff in motivational interviewing. |
