Funded by the Center for Alcohol and Drug Studies and Services, this pilot study seeks to test a manualized treatment intervention for multiple DUI offenders. Counselors work with clients over a 12 month period in both group and individual sessions. The intervention manual is based on the Paradigm Developmental Model of Treatment (DiStefano & Hohman, 2007) which is a guide for counselors to strategically select interventions to be used in individual work that are based on the client's stage of change. Interventions are adaptations of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral methods, and Twelve Step Facilitation. Clients are randomly assigned to a treatment condition or treatment as usual. Outcome measures include drinking and drug use measures, program attendance and completion, and readiness to change drinking.
